The Project
The project to re-clad the East Wing of St Thomas’s Hospital was an innovative and sustainable solution, encasing the 13 storey tower in a glazed facade to improve its energy efficiency and weatherproofing. As well as re-cladding, two new lifts were installed for transferring critically ill patients. The project won Best Design for Conversion or Infill category at the European Healthcare Design Awards in 2016. The interior contains eye-catching artwork to improve the hospital environment for patients, visitors and staff.
